TERMS & ELIGIBILITY
BackBlack 2025 Grants
BackBlack exists to support and celebrate Black-led nonprofits mobilizing their communities during Black Philanthropy Month (August). This is a no-strings-attached grant (unrestricted) — no separate application or report is required.
How It Works
1. Launch your fundraising campaign
Create a fundraising campaign using one of BackBlack’s official platform partners (see full list on our website) and submit it via the official Impact Grant submission form below. Your campaign can support any aspect of your work and does not need to mention Black Philanthropy Month — but it must be live and publicly accessible during August 2025.
2. Submit your campaign to BackBlack through the official BackBlack Impact Grant Submission Form
Submitting your campaign allows us to verify eligibility, track engagement, and consider your organization for funding.
3. Celebrate with us
Grant recipients will be announced the first week of September!
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the BackBlack 2025 Grant, your organization must:
1. Be a Black-led nonprofit verified in the BackBlack Directory
3. Submit your campaign via the official BackBlack Impact Fund form no later than August 31 at 8:00 PM EST
2. Host an active, registered fundraising campaign on one of BackBlack’s official platform partners during August 2025

Selection Criteria
Grants will be awarded based on a holistic review of each campaign’s effectiveness, creativity, and community engagement. Specifically, we will evaluate:
Creativity and Storytelling
Use of original, mission-aligned visuals, graphics, or video
Quality and clarity of messaging about your work and impact
Unique or culturally resonant approaches to campaign storytelling
Community Engagement & Reach
Number of unique donors or contributors (no specific minimum)
Level of social sharing or amplification (e.g., shares, tags, reposts)
Community participation beyond donations, such as comments, volunteers, or event attendees
Effective Use of Platform Tools
Engagement with your fundraising platform’s features (e.g., team fundraising, giving tiers, supporter feeds, or built-in communication tools)
Frequency and creativity of updates throughout the campaign
The selection committee is composed of members from the BackBlack team and partner organizations with experience in fundraising, communications, and nonprofit strategy.
This is not a popularity contest. We are looking at campaigns of all sizes and will prioritize authenticity, effort, and innovation—not just big followings or large donations.
